If you have not tried our wet tans, you should, we know you will be very
pleasantly surprised. Our wet tans continue to be one of the best in the
industry and as always our detailed shaving leaves you very little cleanup
before mounting, normally less than five minutes.
Unlike the sloppy box of mush you get from other tanneries, or tanneries that don't even oil their wet tans, ours will arrive at your doorstep with dry hair and is grease free. We do our wet tans just like our soft finished tans. They get a full swabbing of oil, and the oil is allowed to fully penetrate into the hide, giving you a skin that is easy to mount and requires very little, or no nailing or pinning. When we package your wet tan it is put into a paper bag, not plastic. This eliminates the hide drawing moisture which could cause it to mold or slip. Our wet tans are shipped more dry than wet. They are very stable to ship and they do not need to be shipped second day air. Since our wet tans are dryer than most other tanneries wet tans, they do not weigh much more than a soft finished tanned hide. This saves you shipping costs.
We time the drumming process carefully so that the hide is moist and not
too wet, so that the hide is "thirsty" for water. When you recieve
your hide it may be too dry to mount and stretch properly. Just simply
lay the hide out flat and sponge a little water onto the skin side until
it pools on the surface. You can watch the water soak into the hide
before your eyes. This will give your hide superior stretch and it
is now ready to mount.
